Chapter 325 - 278: The Battle Begins
Using "Ten Thousand Miles of Ice" to freeze the vast snowy mountains was the limit that Lynn could achieve.
This strategic-level Divine Artifact was originally just a quest item taking up space in the backpack, used as a special item for a walk-through in the Miracle World’s nine-year anniversary event, "World of Snow and Ice." Players could hold it but couldn’t use it themselves; instead, it was activated by divine power descending from the heavens in a cutscene, freezing ten thousand miles of territory.
But just like the Promise of the Elf King and the Divine Awarded Medal, which can be taken out and used, the Ten Thousand Miles of Ice Divine Artifact that could only quietly lie in the quest item slot accumulating dust was now materialized, ready to be used upon removal.
However, the unfortunate thing was, true to its name, this Divine Artifact could really only freeze ten thousand miles, not a mile more.
Lynn, with a stoic face, plunged the snowflake-shaped Ten Thousand Miles of Ice into the snow beneath his feet, converting attribute-less fighting spirit into Ice Attribute Power through the Otherworld Treasure Ball, successfully activating the Divine Artifact.
The Ten Thousand Miles of Ice then began to show its power, spreading the domineering power capable of freezing ordinary Demigods, step by step, turning the ice-bound landscape ahead into a forbidden zone of life.
"Catherine, you hold this, and just follow behind at a distance with the others. Natasha and Helena will go on with me first."
Setting up the isolation zone, Lynn turned back and handed a Fire Element Divine Artifact, which he had pre-filled with energy, to Catherine for safekeeping. Given her level, she couldn’t use it, but Lynn had already activated it; the stored energy inside couldn’t be used by others and would merely dissipate slowly.
However, this was exactly the effect Lynn wanted. He needed the natural dissipation of this Fire Element Divine Artifact, on par with the Ten Thousand Miles of Ice, to offset the Ice Divine Artifact’s influence on his wife and children.
He had just tested it, and it was indeed feasible, so he called Helena and Natasha, hurrying ahead of the spreading icy currents, the two of them and a dragon advancing straight towards the Demon Race camp furthest from the front line.
They had rushed along the way without delay, and the collapse of the front camp had yet to affect the rear camps.
When Lynn arrived with a pair of knights and his mount-wife, this Demon Race camp was not at all prepared.
So, when the two of them and one dragon attacked the camp, Lynn caught the strong members of the Demon Race camp completely off guard.
Those above level 750 were not surprising, and there were quite a few peak Great Demons at level 800; one wonders how the Demon Realm’s Demon King wives picked them, as this lineup seemed somewhat capable.
However, this was relative to the strength on the Divine Protection Continent; this lineup before Lynn was practically no different from scattering fish.
"Who dares to intrude into our Demon Race camp!"
Seeing the fiery Dragon Breath descending and engulfing countless tents, and the knight’s spear piercing one bewildered Demon Race soldier after another from the dragon’s back, only then did the top powerhouses and Legion Commanders hastily gather.
But they couldn’t attack the single man and one dragon wantonly slaughtering in the camp, because a strange man blocked their way.
Even though he was just one person, and even if you didn’t count the ordinary soldiers among them, there were no fewer than a hundred demons, but when facing that man, their hands and feet involuntarily became stiff, their hearts not afraid, but their bodies already daunted.
"I won’t bother introducing myself. There’s no need to make the acquaintance of corpses. I’m in a hurry, so I’ll borrow your lives!"
With those words, Lynn didn’t care how these Demon race powerhouses reacted and directly waved his right hand, summoning the long-time ally, the Saint Emperor’s Sword, back into his hand.
Though it wasn’t necessary to use a knife to kill a chicken, to quickly finish the battle, using the Saint Emperor’s Sword was, of course, the swiftest.
"Courting death! Kill them with me!"
The demons present were mostly sent over from the Purgatory Demons and hadn’t been active in the Miracle World before, so they didn’t recognize the Saint Emperor’s Sword, famed for slaying countless demons, nor did they recognize Lynn.
They didn’t even understand how their camp at the very back was being attacked; this was in the land they occupied, with the front facing the allied forces of Miracle World’s native army, and behind them was their occupied territory’s heartland and rear; further back was another continent, Divine Abandonment Continent.
Divine Abandonment and Divine Protection are part of the same world; to attack from the rear, one must first breakthrough Divine Abandonment Continent before ambushing their camps on Divine Protection Continent, right? So, where did these two people and one dragon come from? Had Divine Abandonment Continent entirely fallen?
"That’s right, come all at once, it saves a lot of trouble."
Seeing the Demons charge without honor, Lynn was not annoyed but pleased. He got frustrated when monsters didn’t group up during training, making him run here and there just to fight, but these demons were considerate, huddling together before dying, allowing him to annihilate them in one go, which spared them some suffering and saved Lynn some hassle too.
The fierce and bloodthirsty expressions on the faces of the Purgatory Demons surrounding from all sides, originally the most intense in destructive desires within the Demon Race, had been suffocated enough after consecutively being defeated by the new Demon Dragon Emperor Illidan and chosen and exiled by the Seven Great Demon Kings, and they awaited a fitting moment to erupt.
The two people and one dragon before them were perfect targets to vent on; the dragon and the Dragon Knight over there were merely over level 700, easily slaughtering ordinary soldiers, but running into them, even outnumbering them meant nothing, in one-on-one duels, at least eighty of the hundred demons could single-handedly annihilate them.
