Chapter 724: The Usurper.

The attendant back at at the meeting point had said ominiously, "At that point, it is not a matter of greed anymore. It is a matter of survival, so you should expect the world kings to come at you with everything they have."

The first time Loki had heard this, he had been surprised. The look of surprise on his face had caused the attendant to laugh in amusement.

Then the attendant had said, "Not to worry. As long as you can help the outpost core wrestle 30% control of the power of the world, the outpost core will be done with its third stage, and your mission will be considered complete."

The will of the world didn’t know all of these. But it knew that ever since the strange crystal entered the third dimension, something had begun to go terribly wrong.

At first, the will of the world has felt greed for the black crystal with veins. The will of Oceania was so sure that if it could eat it, it would grow stronger. So it was already inclined to send its world king to snatch the black crystal for it.

But the black crystal entered the third dimension, and the will of Oceania began to lose control of the world. It was then that the will of Oceania realized that it wasn’t the only hunter in this scenario.

The first thing that the will of Oceania lost control of was the area where the black crystal used to be. That area became forbidden for it, so it couldn’t mobilize any world power in that zone. It also couldn’t hear or see anything happening in that area anymore.

When that area was covered with a cold, silent darkness, the will of Oceania had been able to see everything happening just fine. But after the cold, silent darkness disappeared, that area suddenly became a zone of total darkness.

As if this wasn’t bad enough, the will of Oceania realized that it was losing world power. This was because the black crystal was not taking over more of the world of Oceania from it.

World power was the second thing that Oceania was losing, but it was the last straw. The will of Oceania wasn’t willing to lose anything anymore and had even begun to fear for its life.

The only good news was that the usurper was weak and was growing slowly. The threat it represented was still weak and could be easily destroyed.

Unfortunately, even that possibility disappeared when one of the invaders went up to the ursuper and began helping it. Once this invader began helping the black crystal with energy, the black crystal began to grow faster, and the multicolored veins around it began spreading outward much faster than before.

This incenses the will of Oceania, so it made a move to destroy the usurper. Unfortunately, its power wasn’t strong enough, so its attack failed to inflict any damage.

With no cards left to play, it sent the dragon king and the dragons into the third dimension. The will of Oceania gave them one goal and only one goal. That goal was to destroy the usurper at all costs.

There was no strategy involved in this mission. All the dragons came out in their numbers to fight with everything they had. The dragon king led them into this battle with the determination to win or die trying. They even brought the new dragon that they just crowned as a world king.

Apparently, the will of Oceania hadn’t been idle all day. When it realized that the dragon king wasn’t powerful enough to remove all the invaders in one fell swoop, it invested in one of the world guardians and helped it to become a world king.

So there were eight dragons rushing at them, not seven or even six like Money Body claimed. And even though the last dragon hadn’t had time to elevate its stat to 6 units, the enhancement that its existence brought to the dragon king couldn’t be denied.

Loki and Money Body weren’t surprised when they saw the number of dragons coming for them. Their perception range was large enough to cover Oceania, so nothing happening within its first dimension could be hidden from them.

Not only did the existence of this eighth dragon not come as a surprise to Loki, but it also made no difference to him. But this was not the case with Money Body.

The eighth dragon made so much difference to Money Body that it was the main reason he began contemplating going after the dragons and killing them before they could become too strong to deal with.

This eighth dragon was why he came up with the plan to sacrifice world essence to accelerate the growth of the outpost and force the dragons to come to him. And as usual, he hid this information from his mission partners.

He didn’t tell that the dragons were more than six or that the dragons had created an eighth dragon. He only told them that they needed to kill just one or two dragons to secure their victory. This was to prevent them from panicking and quitting the mission earlier.

Of course, they were panicking now when they saw eight dragons coming at them. Blood Sword, in particular, who had heard that dragon kings become more fearsome the more dragon underlings they had, was especially terrified.

Then there was the fact that Money Body had lied to them about the number of enemies they would feel. It was either that he had lied to them to deceive them, or Money Body had lied to them because he was ignorant of the truth.

So it was either that their leader was an untrustworthy liar or he was an ignorant fool. Neither situation was a good thing to have in such a dangerous situation. So she really wanted to quit while she could.

Unfortunately, before she could go through with quitting, she heard Money Body say, "If you quit now, you won’t be my mission partner anymore, and I will be able to attack you. Make of that information what you will."
