Chapter 431 - 429: Susu, Keep Saying You Love Me
Chapter 431 - 429: Susu, Keep Saying You Love Me
But the gentler he was, the more Xu Su found it unbearable. She instinctively wrapped her arms around his waist, urging him on...
Zhou Mochen grasped her foot and flashed her a smile...
The smile was both gentle and fierce, filled with an intense passion that made Xu Su’s heart clench.
Before she could even react...
......
Back on the bed, after Zhou Mochen finished blow-drying her hair, he held her from behind and placed a gentle kiss on her neck. "Susu, do you love me?"
"I do..." Xu Su turned to hug him, curling up in his arms. Her voice was soft but firm. "Zhou Mochen, I’m absolutely certain that I love you. I love you so much."
If this wasn’t love, she had no other way to explain how she felt.
Her heart practically bubbled with joy whenever she saw him. When they argued, she would still be the one to try and coax him. When Shen Chen had bullied her, even though she was in absolute misery, her first instinct upon seeing Zhou Mochen was to run away.
Because she didn’t know how to face him, or how she was supposed to tell him everything that had happened.
’Thank goodness. Thank goodness it’s all out in the open now.’
’As long as we can talk about it, as long as we can face it, then eventually, all these thorns can be removed.’
The hand on her waist suddenly tightened. Xu Su reached over and poked the small of his back. "Gently, my back hurts."
Zhou Mochen hummed in acknowledgment, his hands beginning to gently massage her. "Keep going, Susu. Keep telling me you love me."
"..." Xu Su fell silent for a moment. Her hand, acting on its own mischievous impulse, went to poke his Adam’s apple. She dodged the hand he raised to stop her, buried her face in his neck, and gave him a hickey. Only then did she lift her face to look at him and say with a pitiful expression:
"Zhou Mochen, I was so upset back then. Really, really upset. I can only handle it when you do... those things to me. I can’t stand anyone else touching me."
Zhou Mochen’s gaze froze, and the feeling that stirred his heart lingered for a long, long time.
’I can’t stand anyone else touching me...’
’Those words were more moving than any simple ’I love you’.’
’The little girl has really grown up. Her ability to sweet-talk people has reached a whole new level.’
Zhou Mochen kissed her between the eyebrows and coaxed her softly, "It’s okay, Susu. Don’t worry about any of that. I’ll make him pay the price. I’ll make sure he never dares to think about you again. I’ll get your revenge for you."
’Never dares to think about you again...’
’Thinking about just how crazy Shen Chen was, Xu Su had her doubts.’
She lifted her leg and draped it over Zhou Mochen’s waist, pressing them closer together. Satisfied, she took his hand and began to play with it.
Then she suddenly remembered that this was the hand that had once held a gun to her head. In an instant, her mood soured, and she flung his hand away.
Zhou Mochen froze, confused. "What’s wrong?"
Xu Su just huffed, unable to bring herself to say, "It’s nothing."
She changed the subject. "I want to go on a trip."
"A trip?" Zhou Mochen mused for a moment. "It’s the last summer vacation before college. You should definitely travel a bit. Where do you want to go? In the country or abroad? I’m free whenever."
His last sentence made her brows, which had just begun to rise, instantly furrow. "I don’t need you to come with me. I want to go by myself."
"No," Zhou Mochen rejected her proposal without a moment’s hesitation. "I’d be too worried if you went out alone."
"I won’t be alone. I’ll be with good friends from my gaming group," Xu Su said, determined to go. She listed a few names for him and insisted, "Several of them are going to be my classmates. They’re real University B students, with full names and everything. What’s there to worry about?"
Zhou Mochen held her tighter and asked in a low voice, "Where are you going?"
"We’re taking the Sichuan-Tibet Line to Lhasa. I want to see the golden peaks at sunrise, I want to see the Lugou Bridge, I want to tie a prayer flag and make a wish, and I want to see the devout Tibetan pilgrims." The more Xu Su spoke, the more excited she became, as if she couldn’t wait to leave the very next day.
"That does sound interesting. So you’re not going to take me with you?" Zhou Mochen’s hands tightened on her waist. "You’re just going to leave me all alone in Beijing? Can you really bear to do that?"
"...I can!" Xu Su thought for a moment before steeling her resolve. "We can call each other. We can even call three times a day. I really want to go."
Zhou Mochen didn’t say anything. He just looked at her, as if hoping his gaze would soften her resolve.
Xu Su was getting a headache from this. She lowered her gaze, avoiding his eyes. "I’m really tired. So, so tired. Zhou Mochen, please just let me go and clear my head. I’ve been on edge for days, and I’m so sick of all the drama here."
After she spoke, the room fell silent.
After a long moment, Zhou Mochen finally spoke. "Are you sick of me?"
His voice was rough...
His sensitivity left Xu Su feeling both helpless and exasperated.
"I’m not sick of you, Zhou Mochen, don’t you get it? I’m just sick of everything that’s happened these last few days. I don’t know how I’m supposed to spend the rest of this vacation. If I stay here, I’ll inevitably think of Shen Chen, of you pointing that gun at me, of everything that’s happened over the last few days."
"Can you understand what I’m saying?" Xu Su scratched her head, on the verge of a breakdown. "I want to get far away from here and forget about all this for a while. At least let me have a few days of peace."
’She wasn’t made of steel. How could even the most carefree person digest so much at once?’
All this time, she had thought of Shen Chen as a good friend, someone she had genuinely invested in emotionally. Then she’d suddenly discovered his true feelings and was at a complete loss, only to be misunderstood by Zhou Mochen and threatened by him with a gun to her head.
Pity had won out. Even though she was dying inside, she still wanted to be the one to comfort him...
Then she’d run to the construction site only to be nearly dragged off by a few disgusting workers.
Xu Su could still tell herself that Zhou Mochen had arrived in time, that nothing irreversible had happened. And then today, at a gathering with her online friends—a get-together that had been planned for over a month—she had just been trying to relax.
But Shen Chen had shown up, and she’d let her guard down and gone with him, only to end up tied up and tormented by him.
Yes!
She’d trusted Shen Chen too easily. She deserved it.
She couldn’t blame anyone else, so wasn’t she at least allowed to fall apart on her own?!
Xu Su was sick and tired of everyone and everything here. Losing control, she covered her face, not wanting Zhou Mochen to see, and not wanting to cry anymore.
Zhou Mochen hugged the girl in his arms tightly. Anger blazed in his usually cold and calm eyes. In that moment, he couldn’t forgive anyone who had ever hurt her—including himself.
’She’s in so much pain, so broken... what did she do wrong? He knew she was inexperienced with the ways of the world. She was too foolish, too naive. How could she ever be a match for someone like Shen Chen?’
’If Shen Chen was truly determined to deceive her, she could be sold by him and probably still think he was a good person.’
’It was all his fault. He hadn’t protected her. He’d let her get hurt, and instead of comforting her, he’d said those awful things and had almost done something terrible...’
Only Zhou Mochen himself knew the turmoil in his heart.
The rage in his heart was enough to burn away all reason, yet his hand continued to gently pat her shoulder as he coaxed her in a soft voice.
"Don’t hold a grudge against me, okay? The gun wasn’t loaded that night. I would never point a loaded gun at you."
Zhou Mochen explained softly, "Look, I was furious today, but I still couldn’t bring myself to do anything to you. Believe me, I would point a gun at myself before I ever hurt you."
