Chapter 359 - 7: Wind Law Queen
Chapter 359 - 7: Wind Law Queen
It wasn’t aggressive at all. In the past, the Enchanter was famous for invading mortal dreams and draining their energy in the dead of night. It was a relatively harmless existence; even for the most ordinary person, the worst side effect was just a few days of listlessness.
"Yes, this is my first time using it, too. I didn’t expect it to be so easy."
Luyetan tilted her head and said, "It seems I really am a Nightmare Demon."
Luyetan’s smile seemed a bit forced. She was clearly not pleased with this fact.
"So, were you just testing your abilities? Why do it now, and why... target me? You’re playing with fire. If you’d been half a beat slower in speaking up, you would have been in deep trouble."
Westheid asked, even though he already suspected the answer.
"Because Her Highness Reiya called me a Succubus. It really got to me, so I had to give it a try. Does that make sense, Duke Qinghui?"
Luyetan revealed an elegant, bewitching smile as she carefully studied Westheid’s handsome face. The fiery passion in her beautiful eyes grew even more intense.
"Duke Qinghui... you have to take responsibility for this."
Westheid almost laughed. "You’re the one who invaded my dream, yet you want me to take responsibility? That’s a bit unreasonable."
"I don’t care. I don’t care about any of that."
Luyetan lifted a corner of her simple white silk nightgown and began to spin like an innocent, carefree young girl. The graceful figure, usually hidden beneath demure clothing, was now on full display.
Youthful, beautiful, with a perfectly curvaceous figure.
But the most eye-catching feature was the tail extending from beneath her nightgown, its tip shaped like a heart.
Luyetan’s every move exuded an intensely suggestive air, making Westheid think, ’She’s stoking a fire, she’s stoking a fire.’
"If not for your temptation, why would I ever have tried to explore this Enchanter Bloodline that I’ve always avoided? Before I met you, I never knew my bloodline held such impulses."
"Well... I suppose that is my fault, in a way."
Westheid thought about it carefully and realized she wasn’t just making a fallacious argument.
Luyetan’s bloodline impulses never would have erupted on their own. The Yuanxi Clan had passed down the Enchanter Bloodline for many generations and had mostly been able to suppress it, never succumbing to its influence. But Westheid’s Charm Attribute was simply too high; it completely shattered her threshold.
The Enchanter was a type of Succubus, capable of enchanting others but also easily enchanted itself. Westheid had undoubtedly ignited Luyetan’s latent Enchanter Bloodline, and he had done so intentionally.
In short, it was his fault. Having high Charm was, in itself, a flaw.
"Even if we are ninety-nine percent at fault, don’t you bear that one percent of the blame?"
"It doesn’t matter whose fault it is."
Luyetan’s gaze burned as she stared at Westheid. She extended a finger and lightly touched the tip of her pretty tongue.
"Hey, Duke Qinghui... consider it payment for your past assistance and help me sate this craving."
"It doesn’t matter if Her Highness Reiya is right next door. This is a Consciousness Space created by a Nightmare Demon. It’s purely mental; nothing in the physical world will be affected in the slightest. So it doesn’t count as cheating."
Westheid said, "Didn’t you say you didn’t want any payment?"
"I’ve changed my mind."
In her dream state, Luyetan was completely different from her usual self—alluring and dazed. Her delicately trembling body was undoubtedly struggling to suppress her urges.
This was not an unfamiliar sight to Westheid; he had become quite experienced from his past interactions with Mivana.
He pondered for a moment before replying:
"If you need to feed, then go ahead. It’s a small price I can afford to pay. But I have a condition."
"Tell me about the situation in the Thousand Laws Royal Court. I know you’re well-informed, especially about the Wind Law Queen."
Luyetan’s eyes widened at his words. She looked at Westheid thoughtfully, then licked her lips and said:
"Ha, Duke Qinghui. Are you resorting to dirty tricks again?"
Westheid scowled. "What do you mean, ’dirty tricks’?! It’s a roundabout strategy! Don’t you think there’s something wrong with the power structure of the Thousand Laws Royal Court? The ruler of a great nation, if not able to do as she pleases, should at least have her word be law. Yet she’s constrained even on a trivial matter like asking for aid."
"Hmph... It can’t be helped. Who’s to blame that Her Majesty is so young? Even though she’s the supreme ruler by law, she can’t win the trust of the Royal Court’s elders. In comparison, the Grand Law Officer, who is of their own kind, is more trustworthy. At least he is powerful enough and has the experience."
Luyetan didn’t ask any more questions. Since Westheid had proposed a trade, she readily accepted. Ever since conjuring this dreamscape, Luyetan felt as if her own rationality was on the verge of being completely devoured.
The young woman with the Succubus bloodline knelt gently on the ground. Her lowered eyelids fluttered as she gathered her dark-blonde-streaked brown hair and tied it back into a ponytail.
Westheid leaned back. "Hiss— So the Wind Law Queen just handed over her power like that?"
Luyetan replied, "Are you asking if the Wind Law Queen is dissatisfied? I can’t tell, anyway. On the surface, at least, their relationship is quite harmonious. There’s no apparent conflict."
"But you don’t need to worry too much. When it comes to the Elf Royal Family, they aren’t much different from us who have inherited the Enchanter Bloodline. They’re all susceptible to temptation."
Hearing Luyetan say this reassured Westheid. If even the noblest of the Elf Royal Family could be influenced by Emperor Qianlu’s succubus nature, then it would surely be his time to shine.
"I’ve watched the videos Rozana sent over many times. It should be like this, right?"
"So that’s what Rozana was always filming. I see now it was all for you."
Luyetan licked the corner of her lips, rose, and crawled onto Westheid.
"I know quite a few secrets about the Royal Court, you know. Tonight... I’ll tell them all to you slowly, Duke Qinghui."
.......A line break for the telling of secrets........
「Meanwhile, in the Land of Rhythm, adjacent to the Yuanshi Territory.」
Ever since Emperor Qianlu unified the once-chaotic Land of Thousand Lakes, he used Melody to harmonize nature and geography, culture and ideals. One after another, each City in the Lake was built upon a ceremonial node carved by the Divine Ancestor in the beginning.
The Cities in the Lake are engraved with history. The Cities in the Lake shape beauty. The Cities in the Lake play a symphony of harmony.
Surrounding these magnificent, fairytale-like cities, the common people of the Thousand Laws Royal Court were able to live and work in peace and contentment. Note after note spread through the skies above the Land of Rhythm.
And among all the Cities in the Lake, the most important and special was, without a doubt, the Central Royal Court.
This was the main gathering place of the Elf Royal Family.
Although the Thousand Laws Royal Court was not only home to Elves—other races existed and made up a significant portion of the population—only the Elves, and one Elf Race in particular, were especially beloved by Emperor Qianlu.
This Elf Race, known as the Jade, had followed the Divine Ancestor with their entire clan from the very beginning, and in the end, they finally received his reward.
All Elves of the Jade clan were elevated to the status of the Elf Royal Family—a well-deserved honor, a Celestial Blessing, divinely appointed by the Celestial God.
They were both the high-ranking members among the Elves and the ruling class of the entire Royal Court. Although the class division wasn’t as stark as in the Country of Yonglan, where a world of difference separated a Knight Lord from a serf and the former could treat the latter as they pleased...
...in some ways, it was even worse. While the Elf Royal Family did not typically bully the weak or oppress their fellow Elves and human compatriots, the Royal Family’s continuous reproduction and expansion, spreading through their bloodline, meant that the Central Royal Court was almost entirely controlled by them.
The leader of the Jade Royal Family, the secular ruler of the Thousand Laws Royal Court, was known as the King of Wind Law.
The current head of the Royal Family had just ascended the throne a few years ago and was so young that she couldn’t even handle state affairs. This was not without precedent in the Royal Court’s history, but this time was different. In the past, no matter who the ruler was, the Divine Ancestor was always there as a safety net. The ruler’s competence didn’t matter; as long as they could stamp documents, it was fine.
But the separation of gods and mortals changed everything. The excessively young Her Majesty the Queen caused a problem that the Thousand Laws Royal Court had not faced in millennia.
A young ruler, an uncertain kingdom!
