Chapter 1886 - 1879: Level Up by Slaying Monsters
Chapter 1886 - 1879: Level Up by Slaying Monsters
"Have you ever heard of the Endless Land?" The Sect Master sat down and started fishing.
"No," Zhang Menglong shook his head. It seemed that even in all the information Gou Dan had collected, there was nothing about this so-called Endless Land. Apparently, what the Sect Master was talking about was not a place everyone was qualified to know about.
"What’s so special about this Endless Land?"
"Very special," the Sect Master said. "It’s a place where, once you go in, there’s almost no way to come out again. So far, only one person has ever gone in and come out alive. Everyone else was trapped inside and died there."
"Since it’s almost impossible to get out, how did he manage it?"
"You could say he was quite creative. He directly tore open the void and entered the space-time currents. You know what that means—once you go in, you have no idea where you’ll come out, or whether you’ll be shredded to pieces by a space-time storm. It’s pure gambling with your life!"
"Damn, that’s a ruthless guy!" Zhang Menglong couldn’t help but click his tongue.
He had tasted the power of a Space-Time Storm himself; last time he had almost died. He was lucky to have one dog’s life left, and even luckier that someone kind had pulled him out.
Even Dao Realm experts found it hard to withstand that kind of space-time current. Once swept in, they would also be torn to pieces. Of course, their recovery ability was extremely strong; even if their limbs were severed, they could regenerate instantly.
But you have to remember, Energy is conserved. To recover, you need Energy, and in those currents, Energy was almost nonexistent. You basically couldn’t draw anything from the outside, and once your body was shredded, the currents would scatter you to random regions, making you impossible to find.
So you could only use the Energy in your own body to keep yourself intact. Once your Energy was exhausted, you were dead.
So this man really took an enormous risk to get out. The fact that he made it out was entirely because he was ballsy enough and lucky enough. That kind of probability is practically impossible to replicate!
"Looks like after he got out, he brought back a lot of information." Zhang Menglong said. Since the Sect Master had mentioned this Endless Land, it meant there was some shortcut to breakthroughs there.
"Exactly!" the Sect Master said. "When he went in, he was only at Divine Breath Eighth Grade. He only stayed in there for three years. Guess what realm he was at when he came out?"
"How was his Gift?" Zhang Menglong asked.
"Very ordinary. He didn’t even qualify to participate in the entrance exams of the superpowers’ Sects."
Zhang Menglong fell into thought. In three years, an average disciple of the Divine Profound Hall might go from Divine Breath Eighth Grade to Ninth Grade. Given that this guy’s Gift was very average, even Ninth Grade sounded doubtful.
"Did he directly break through to the Divine Cultivation Realm?" Zhang Menglong asked.
For someone with that kind of potential, going from Divine Breath Eighth Grade to the Divine Cultivation Realm in less than twenty or thirty years was almost impossible, and Zhang Menglong was already assuming a tenfold cultivation speed.
"Your vision’s too small. Guess again!"
"Divine Cultivator, Second Grade?"
"Divine Cultivator, Fifth Grade!"
"Holy shit! That ridiculous?" Zhang Menglong couldn’t help exclaiming.
From Divine Breath Eighth Grade to Divine Cultivator Fifth Grade—how many times stronger was that? Someone with ordinary Gift couldn’t reach that realm without at least a century of cultivation. And he actually did it in just three years. What earth-shattering changes had happened in those three years?
"Sect Master, can you elaborate?" Zhang Menglong asked curiously.
"Of course. After he came out, everyone immediately went to him to ask what had happened. It’s said that the Energy density of that place is comparable to an Ancient Cave Heaven, even approaching the core regions of those."
"Even so, it still shouldn’t be that fast. People stayed there for three years; there probably weren’t even many who managed to break through to Divine Cultivator First-grade, right?"
"If it were just that, of course it wouldn’t be possible," the Sect Master said. "There’s a very unique lifeform in the Endless Land called the Phantom Profound Beast!"
"What kind of thing is that?"
"It’s a lifeform born after a pure Energy aggregation develops intelligence," the Sect Master explained. "Once you destroy its spiritual intelligence, it can be directly absorbed by the human body. Through this, you can rapidly accumulate Energy and quickly raise your realm. The effect even far surpasses Saint Grade Elixir!"
"There’s actually something like that?"
"But it’s said those Phantom Profound Beasts are extremely formidable, even comparable to genius Martial Artists among Humans. And after they kill Martial Artists, they can extract their memories and learn their Martial Arts Techniques. Moreover, as purely Energy-based lifeforms, they basically have no lifespan limit. A creature that can learn infinitely—you get what I’m saying, right?"
"That does sound hard to deal with." Zhang Menglong could almost imagine how terrifyingly strong those Phantom Profound Beasts were. Regular Martial Artists simply couldn’t handle them and could only become their prey.
"Killing Phantom Profound Beasts of the same level—just ten of them is almost enough Energy to raise you by one realm. If you kill a Phantom Profound Beast stronger than yourself, you might directly advance!"
"So it’s literally grinding mobs to level up, huh?" Zhang Menglong felt this was a perfect analogy. Killing those Phantom Profound Beasts to obtain Energy was like getting experience points, which could be directly added onto a Martial Artist. It was basically like having a cheat code.
"Phantom Profound Beasts are extremely hard to kill. Even if you can fight them evenly, as Energy-aggregate lifeforms, their Energy is almost inexhaustible. Add in their overwhelming power, and Martial Artists of the same realm simply can’t handle them. You need to at least surpass them by two realms."
"Then how did that guy pull it off?" Zhang Menglong felt that, with that man’s strength, even surviving would have been extremely difficult.
"The brat’s luck was outrageously good. He picked up a Divine Cultivator-level Phantom Profound Beast that was on the verge of death and went on a crazy power-up spree."
"So he basically kill-stole the boss, huh..." Zhang Menglong was speechless. That kind of luck really was insane.
"With your strength, fighting above your level is like slicing melons and chopping vegetables. You can totally hunt Phantom Profound Beasts to rapidly raise your realm, and the speed is absurdly fast!" the Sect Master said.
At Divine Cultivator Third Grade, they could crush the Martial Artists of other superpowers at Divine Cultivator Ninth Grade or even at the Peak of Divine Cultivation. Those Phantom Profound Beasts were at best comparable in Gift to the top disciples of the superpowers. No matter how you looked at it, they should be able to easily hunt Phantom Profound Beasts at Divine Cultivator Fifth or Sixth Grade.
By then, the speed at which their realm would skyrocket...
Click, click, click...
Even he didn’t dare to imagine it.
"But there are two problems. First, how are you going to get out of the Endless Land?" the Sect Master said solemnly.
"Second, those Phantom Profound Beasts have devoured huge amounts of Memory Fragments from Martial Artists, which made their own memories extremely chaotic. So almost all Phantom Profound Beasts are incomparably berserk and filled with aggression!"
"How’s that any different from wild beasts? But that’s not really an issue, right? We’re going there to hunt Phantom Profound Beasts anyway."
"What I mean is, when you absorb them, those chaotic memories will to some extent affect your consciousness and memories. That guy’s strength skyrocketed, but he frequently went berserk, and almost at random. He’s basically a walking time bomb."
"Got it." Zhang Menglong nodded.
But this still wasn’t really a problem. There were countless elixirs in the world, and Zhang Menglong had plenty that could protect the Soul and consciousness!
"You need to think this through. If you can’t get out, you’ll be trapped in there forever!" the Sect Master warned again.
"I’ve thought it through," Zhang Menglong said with a grin. "We’ll just go there, farm some mobs, and level up!"
