sharp sign

I bet a lot of you have already seen this, but I had to put it out there anyway because it’s just too completely, jaw-droppingly horrible not to share.

Not the sign. I like the sign, it’s funny (though almost as much of a head-scratcher). Nope, it’s another so-called “man of god” preaching against his fellow human beings. For everyone who hasn’t already seen it, watch this video clip of this pastor outlining his plan to fence in all those pesky gays and lesbians in electrified enclosures until they die, so that way the gays will all die out and there won’t be any more. Clever. Okay, not clever at all. A genius, this guy is not. Sickening, though? Oh yes, it’s definitely sickening. And kind of funny, because don’t you just know this hypocrite beats it every night to gay porn?

Anyway, a bit of the nausea caused by that video was relieved for me when Kathy K. posted this link to Ethan Day’s Yahoo group, calling for people — especially Christians — to make donations to GLBTQ organizations in the Asshole Pastor’s name. They have suggestions for organaztions to which you can donate, including faith-based organizations which are supportive of GLBTQ equality. They also have a postcard you can download and print to send to Asshole Pastor to let him know you’ve donated in his name. I’m not a believer in a deity, but I believe in poetic justice, and this is delicious *g* Plus, a lot of really wonderful organizations are getting some much needed money out of it. It’s win-win. Personally, I’m torn between The Trevor Project and PFLAG…

I seriously hope next year’s GLR is in North Carolina…
We could all attend services… it would be quite the educational love fest. Bet even without going to church we’d make the news… the confusion of why such a large group of mostly females writing and reading about homo-sex-u-alll-atea…
As the rage pours through me all we can do is educate those around us, vote responsibly and funnel our $, time and efforts into good causes.

It would be cool to have GRL in North Carolina! In fact, if it was in Charlotte, we really could actully go to Asshole Pastor’s church. Fun times *g* And, I wouldn’t have to fly to the con because I’m only a couple of hours from Charlotte myself, up in the mountains. Or GRL could be in Asheville which would be awesome because Asheville is cool :D
I hear ya, things like this just make you want to break stuff. But like you said, all we can do is keep on talking, educating, and trying to change the world in our own little peaceful way.

Kathy, thank you! And extra special thank you for the link to that wonderful response to the pastor’s rant. I absolutely love it :D

Oh my gawd, that is *great*!!! I am absolutely going to donate funds to the good cause in the name of that complete and utter asshole. Wow.

He hasn’t even pretended that he was “joking” like the other guy who called on parents to punch their sons if he seems to be acting too effeminate.

Isn’t it wonderful? I thought it was absolutely the BEST way to respond to that man’s hate — with love, goodness and tangible help for other people.

OMG, Z, we totally have to get together! That would be awesome! If you’re close to the Greenville area I think you’re close to Eden Winters too, she’s around there someplace. I hope the move went smoothly!
