The Romance Writers of America annual conference is coming up NEXT WEEK. It’s being held at Disney World this year, at the Swan & Dolphin Resort. Exciting! I’m really looking forward to the conference this year :D
Here’s the thing, though. I’ve been to Disney World before. More than once. So I know how expensive it can be to eat there. Does anyone know of anyplace to eat that’s close to the Swan & Dolphin and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg? I’m not a picky eater. I don’t like sushi or Thai, but other than that I’ll eat just about anything *g*
One other thing, y’all. Anyone who’s in Orlando on Wednesday the 28th, come to the Pacific Exhibit Hall in the Dolphin between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. and see me, I’ll be signing my books Adder and Where The Heart Is at the Literacy Autographing. You don’t have to buy anything just to come say “hi” but all the proceeds from the books go to literacy charities so it’s all for a good cause :)

Why do I always lose my password for this site. Grrrr.
Anyway, have a blast at Disney, sounds like fun. I’ve never stayed at a Disney resort for that reason. We usually stayed off-site and drove but then you have the car rental thing. Hope you can find someplace decent that’s not outrageously expensive. Living off granola bars and juice boxes in your room for a weekend is not so fun. :-)

We usually get the dining plan when we go to save money and have never been at the Swan & Dolphin except to gawk like hillbillies at all the fanciness. The website for S&D restaurants is http://www.swananddolphinrestaurants.com and, though it doesn’t list costs, it does display a variety of types of restaurants (Picabu looks fairly low cost). If I can remember, I’ll look it up in my 2010 guide (we’ll be down there in November) and post another comment with anything else I can find.

Hi Tam! Yeah I’ve stayed on and off the resort. It’s definitely expensive to keep yourself fed staying on the resort, although to me it’s worth it if you’re doing the parks because the transportation inside and between the parks is AWESOME. I’ve never gone to Disney and NOT done the parks though so we’ll see how that goes *g*
When it comes to parks I actually prefer Universal. Soooo much easier to get around, plus it’s actually possible to see all of it in less than a month! LOL.
Missy, thanks! The restaurants there look really terrific, even if they ARE expensive :) I figure I’ll grab as much of the RWA-sponsored food as I can and hope the bars have pretzels. Heh. Only half-kidding there…
