Men can be sexy. The shape of their bodies, the strength of their muscles, the little boy smiles and the devil grins. Whether he’s a hairy hardbody or a sleek pretty boy, he can be sexy. Women can be sexy. Curves and soft, secret places, long fluttery lashes and inviting lips. Long hard cocks and sweet, wet pussies. Breasts. Asses. Gorgeous combination.
I see it all. I see sexy in men who are too thin or women who’re maybe a tad — or a lot — overweight. Sure, there are people who aren’t sexy at first, but they could come to be. It goes the other way too. There could be someone who’s just drop-dead gorgeous until s/he opens up and spews some verbal nonsense.
What am I saying? I don’t know, it’s late and I’ve been up all day. I guess what I’m addressing is that I like to write different types of romance. I love writing m/m but I like writing m/f too. I like the multiple pairings as well. I’m not so sure that everyone has to love just one person.
Today I started musing on what might it be like if there was a married couple where she just stops liking sex. Maybe there’s a medical reason and it hurts or just doesn’t feel good anymore. But she still loves him and he still loves her. He resigns himself to not having sex anymore. But what if she invites a man to their house? What if she suggests he has sex with this guy, and she watches. Maybe she likes to watch. Maybe that could work for the three of them. No doubt some others would see that as wrong but how can it be when they’re all getting what they need?
The above is just an example of the type of thing that occurs to me. Take a situation that doesn’t seem like it’d work romantically speaking and make it work. Why not? If it seems like it should on the face of it, why can’t it? Why can’t all members of a rock band be gay? Why can’t a guy just suddenly discover that he’s fallen in love with a man even thought he likes women? F/f ideas occur to me to, y’know, I just haven’t fleshed out any of those stories yet. But don’t count me out. In fantasy worlds, it’s even better/easier. I can even make up an entire race where sex is prevalent and necessary, regardless of the gender of your partner(s).
I guess my mind fights the gender boundaries. I like writing about pretty men. I’ve liked writing about men who dress like women. I like writing about pretty boys who should seem effeminate but aren’t really. I like writing about girls who don’t do the typical girl things. I’m very much in love with the idea of falling in love with someone and not having to worry about what’s generally accepted.
But, y’know what, the couple who’ve been together for ages are also pretty sexy to me. That’s love, to have stuck with someone for so long. My parents have been together almost 45 years and I think that’s awesome. They’re still cute together too. Still hold hands, still seek each other out for a hello or goodbye kiss, still hold each other. It’s a beautiful thing.
I want people to find the love that works for them and a person they can be with. After all, when it comes down to it, if the romance works for the two (or three or more) people involved, who else can say it’s wrong?

You know, if you ever did write something with an overweight heroine, I think I would die happy.
I’m a plus sized girl who’s not getting any, and damnit, I want to read about someone my size getting some, and having a HEA!

Jet, I like the way you think. And I am 100% with you. Real people don’t fit into neat little boxes, why should we force fictional people into them? It’s good to push the boundaries of the genre sometimes. You’re good at that :)

Thanks guys.
I’ll have to think about the overweight heroine. I haven’t done a bbw yet, although that’s closer to my own body type :)

I love this post, Jet. And the way you think. All too often in life, and in fiction, people try to force others into their own definitions of what is beauty, what is sexy, or what is love.
Keep on being the creative soul that you are and writing what inspires you.

Thank you,
Its writers like you, that keep me holding on to that romantic side that I try to get rid of. Being a guy that doesn’t have much success in the dating field due to physical apperances, your stories are a blessing,
a blessing because it kinda keeps that tiny spark alive.
So Thank you!
