I’ve been doing this a few years now and I thought I’d gotten into a rhythm. Once I really start on a story, I’ve been pretty good about finishing it. Just For You is the one exception I can think of since I started that in the middle of one year, abandoned it and didn’t get back to it until almost the same time the next year. But with all the others, once I really started writing I was able to stick it out.

Not this time. I’ve been working on Leashed 4 for over two months now and I made the decision over the last week to abandon it for now. The heart of the story has changed three times now and this third rewrite feels like a mess.

So, I’ve given it up for now. Not forever. I think this last storyline that I thought up with might be a keeper but I need some distance to do it justice.

I’m hoping that working on something else for awhile will give me a fresh perspective.

We understand Jet. It’s got to be hard to have more than one senero in your head at a time. It’s always good to take a break. (I personally recommend knitty, sewing, or quilting. Something total separate from writing. Then if you get an idea while doing mindless stuff you can just jot it down. Notebooks are the messangers of Gods.) But like I was saying before we understand and hope you find what you need. We Love your work so just relax for now.

Thanks, CarolinaGa. I’ve got a few other ideas about totally different stories that I think I’ll work on. I just need some distance from this one before diving in again.

    Yeah, totally understand.
Happens all the time to me, sometimes there are just too many ideas going through my head that I can’t separate them enough to see which one will work out best.
Just relax and give it some time. I’m sure Meg and the boys will let you know which they think is best eventually. ;)

I hear you. This time it wasn’t so much too many ideas as no solid ones. Or, rather, a bunch of ideas that didn’t play well together. Ah well. I’m hoping a break will clear my head

Jet, sorry to hear it wasn’t working for you, but one of the smartest things you can do is move on when you know you need to. Best of luck on the next project!!

Thanks Sloan. The next thing seems to be going well in the past few days so I’m hopeful *crosses fingers* :)
