I’m trying to get myself in gear and finish this last short story. It’s getting there. I’m feeling the characters and I’m beginning to like the plot but it seems like every time I turn around there is something to distract me. The latest? A new car. I finally traded in my 11 year old Buick Regal. It was a good car, not counting the damned window regulators which we won’t even discuss *groan* *grumble*, but I like the new one a lot better! I hate having car payments as you can probably tell by the age of my Buick, but I do love this car. I ended up getting a Lincoln MKS.

I thought about a Dodge Charger or a Dodge Challenger, those are some seriously cool looking cars, but I’m just not the sports car type. Although, I am trying to talk Andre into buying a 1960 GTO to rebuild. I’d love old muscle cars. But for everyday driving I’m a luxury car kinda gal. And I must say as luxury goes, this car has it all. I’m still finding cool stuff about it. There are more bells and whistles than I’ll probably ever use, but it sure it fun to play with. And it drives like you are floating on a cloud. There is hardly any road noise, I thought my Buick was a quiet and smooth ride. HA! The MKS is like being in my only little bubble with lumbar support and heated and cooled seats, or spaceship cockpit as the car salesman referred to it. Why do you need heated seats in Texas? Yeah, my mom thought that was silly too… until I called her after the temp unexpectedly dropped to 40 week before last. Those heated seats heat up faster that the heater, it makes a huge difference in comfort. After my call she went and bought her a new car with heated seats LOL. She was in the market anyway but still…

I went from having a radio that only worked occasionally to being able to listen to Sirius, my MP3 player or the songs I put on the car’s “jukebox” in THX. I’m feeling just a wee bit spoilt. In my defense I tried to be sensible and talk myself out of it, but Andre wouldn’t hear of it. God, I love him!

Now, if I can just stay out of the damned thing and get some writing done all will be well. Kimber suggested taking Gilbert to sit in the car, whom I haven’t named yet, and write…she may be on to something.

We always laughed about the heated seats here in Arizona, too, but then the temp dropped to a frigid 70 and we were glad to have them. :)

LOL we get into the 40’s occasionally. Actually, every now and again we get to 30 but for the most part winter here is 50-60 temperature range. Or maybe I should amend that, this year we ranged from 40-80. Oh well, I’m cold natured… I imagine I’ll also like to ride with the moonroof open in the winter, so the seats will be nice then. I had a convertible when I was in my early 20’s and used to ride with the top down, windows up and the heater on the floor setting on high in the winter. It worked surprisingly well *G* I have to admit I’m curious how well the a/c seats work in 100 degree summer weather. That will be the true test for the seats.

Congradulations. It is quite the car. As a matter of fact, it is THEE car to own. Is that cinnamon I see in the picture? Gorgeous. What color interior did you pick? I’ll be getting one this summer with the new Eco-Boost engine. I’m counting the days. Drive it in good health. Not only is it a top quality car, it’s also one hell of a head turner.

Yes, it is cinnamon. I got the black or rather charcoal interior. I kind of wanted the cashmere but I’d have ended up killing kids over it, so I went with the dark. I’ve kept them alive for 11 and 9 years it’d be a shame to have to kill them over a car. I actually like the dark better but the sensible part of me said the lighter would be cooler in summer, so that was the only reason I was leaning toward the cashmere color. So I’m not at all disappointed and don’t feel as though I settled.

Yeah I was considering waiting for the 2010 but decided to heck with it and went ahead and got the 09. The 10s come out in July don’t they?

I guess around July or so. I haven’t heard for sure. I’m also fretting the price. They haven’t announced pricing on the new engine yet, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it’ll be somewhat reasonable. I absolutley love the cashmere, but you can’t get it with the olive wood. So I’m gonna have to settle for the light camel interior so I could actually get the blonde colored olive ash wood.

  6. J.L. Langley wrote,

See that was the one I wouldn’t settle for at all because I have this thing against blond wood. I’m a dark wood person. What color for the outside are you looking at?

Tuxedo Black is my first choice, but I have to see the new colors they’re introducing this year. There’s gonna be a new red, a new white and one or two others. So, I gotta take a look at them.
