I went up to San Francisco last night to see JL Langley do a reading at A Different Light Bookstore. I was pretty excited about the trip; not only was I getting out of the house (a rare thing when I’m obsessing over a project ;), nearly all of the members of the super secret crit group were going to be at the reading, plus a few friends.
When I arrived, I thought I’d calmed down. Then, I saw JL’s books, and I made a soft little sound (I’ve been assured, it was a very cute and mature sound).
I wandered about the store for a few minutes. As I strolled, I saw that I wasn’t the only one who wanted to grab a copy of one of JL’s books.
A few minutes later, the crit group arrived. We hugged, we laughed, we fanned out and checked out the books.
Research, I tell you. We all believe in research. Here, Laura Baumbach (to the far right, looks like she’s in the center) talks to Kimberly Gardner and JL.
When an author sees a copy of one of their books in a store, it’s like falling in love all over again. Here, Ally Blue poses with the
anthology whose title escapes me at the moment, but I know her novella, Catching a Buzz is in it.
The reading was great (Simon is so cool), and afterward she answered some questions, showed us a peek of the book’s cover (Anne Cain is brilliant), and signed a few books.
