I’m working on a story with Dick D, yup he’s alive, still in moving hell though. Remind me not to move. It sounds stressful.
Things are going well after a brief OMG this sucks moment on my part, apparently everyone else didn’t see an issue. But there was one, trust me on this. Yes, the setting was lovely, the prose eloquent and the sensory details were amazingly marvelous if I do say so myself, but it was stagnant. It needed conflict. Everyone said, “keep going.” I wanted to but inwardly I was shouting,”why? I don’t care. If I were a reader I’d close the book and try something else.” Yes, I’m extremely hard on myself, but hey, I can’t help it. Yes, I know somewhere out there some critic is going to rip it to shreds, that’s life. You can’t please everyone, I know this. I have to please me though. I have to know I wrote it to the best of my ability. If I don’t write it the way I feel best, then I’m cheating myself as well as the readers . Anyway, that set me back a few days trying to figure out how to add some tension. Today I got the break through and Dick agreed it would be a nice addition, so I’m hitting it hard and heavy this afternoon. I’m now back to being excited about writing it.
I’m learning more than I ever wanted to know about submarines. Well no not really, it’s all very interesting. Poor Dick probably feels like he as a two year old. I believe I’ve asked him everything except why the sky is blue. I’m going to owe him big time after this one.
Today, I’m finally going to get to meet and play with Captain Hotty. No that’s not his real name, but it’s what I’ve been calling him and something tells me his hero is going to stick the nickname on him too :) Call it a hunch. I’m hoping to have this one done by the 20th at the latest, but we’ll see. I may end up with edits for TEA during that time. Which I’m actually looking forward to. I miss Si and Pay. At any rate this one will be done by the first week of September, no ifs ands or buts about it. That’s the deadline.

That Dick D is as slippery as an eel. And as smart as a whip. This ought to be fun, JL. Give him hell!

Here allow me to quote him directly. He just this very minute told me this. LOL
“everything on a submarine besides the officers quarters is haze murky gray I mean everything is painted metal wood you name it haze gray”
Wait, did you know the outsides are coated in rubber? Waits for the laughter to die down…. Yeah, long hard cylindrical object encased in rubber. I had the same rxn

I can’t wait to read this one. Where will it be published? Any idea when it will be coming out? Robber coated submarin… Is that going to be on the cover? ;-)
Then will you be moving on to Matt’s story? (I read that somewher on your site) Will he be with Bambi or are you saving him for Diego?
Keep them coming! I love your books!
