You all know about DIP Disorder aka Deadline Induced Panic. But I think there is another disorder lurking about. PMD Disorder aka Post Manuscript Distraction Disorder. Here is the deal I finished TEA, but now I need to get to work on a new MS. Have I done that yet? Noooo…. My mind is all over the place. I bounce from one idea to the next and never settle or fully flesh it out. I want to work on one thing but must work on another. So I’m trying desperately to come up with a brilliant plot bunny to distract me from what I want-but-can’t work on. So far I’m gone from blind bull riders to BDSM ranch hands to a young man on the run with an infant. Have I mentioned I’m also firmly in “read mode”? I’m all over the place. Once I settle on an idea and start working it out, I’ll be better, but right now??? PMD firmly has its claws into me. Now I have to round up all the wild cowboy plot bunnies and see if I can tame one. Wish me luck!

I may have mentioned that the Kindle is made of evil.

I tend to go through the same thing after I’ve finished a project. At first I like it (oohh, look at all the shiny ideas), but eventually it drives me crazy because I just want to focus on one thing.

    *hug*

One bunny will reign supreme. Hopefully by next week you’ll be starting a new story :)

I am not a writer (I am a project manager/Lean Six Sigma), but I’ve been going through the same phase when I complete a project I’ve been working on for 6 months. I become very counter-productive and don’t seem to be able to focus. That is until I am able to chanel my ideas and pick one project to begin working on.

I won’t begin anything new for a couple of weeks, just work on the other projects I have going on and relax. It use to drive my boss crazy because we should always have at least 3-4 projects on the go, but now he knows better. Here is my trick: I write the idea that comes to mind on a piece of paper as it comes and put it in a box. I realize it is all in the head but it is as if you are transfering the idea from your brain to a piece of paper and I don’t keep thinking about it, and I go back to relaxing instead of being all over the place. Once I am ready to begin a new project, a couple of weeks later, I open the box and paste all the ideas on a wall in an order that makes sense and I realize I have already begun a new project (or two or three)and have already begun defining the problem(s) and who needs to be involved, etc. The ideas I don’t use go back in the box (unless they really don’t make sense, then I throw them out).

Again, I am not a writer (and wont pretend to be) but this seems to work for me. Maybe this could help you as well as a writer. I’d be interrested to see if it does…

Sophie that is a great idea. I sort of do that already with plot ideas, but just bits and pieces and throwing them into one plot could be very interesting.

My choice would be another novel starring two Texas cowboys, but that’s just me.

I know your trying to corral some cowboys, but when you get back to chasing werewolves, but you are still waiting for the youngsters to mature. How about looking at Gadget and Bambi because the way they argue and rub each other up, is bound to cause sparks and we all know how that can lead to flames.

But what about poor Matt? You know he was crushing on Rhys, and now that Rhys has Sterling, Matt needs someone too! I was totally a Rhys/Matt shipper until the end of With Caution. He’s just so cute, I want him to be given his first assignment and then get into trouble.

My vote is werewolves! Even though I LOVE all your books to pieces, I love your Werewolves and Sci-Fi books the most.

And *cough* on that note, if you need anybody to go over TEA, you know fresh pair of eyes and all that, I would be more than happy to help you out. ^_^

    November is so far away!
