I know it sounds so much like whining but I’m going to do it anyway. Big surprise–Laura’s whining!
I have this deadline, just like everyone else on earth. And it means I need to write at least 3000 words a day for the next 7 days to hit it. Big deal for me. I hit 2000 on a good day any more. A measly 2000? you’re probably saying. A walk in the park! I hear you, already!
But you have to take into consideration the many and varied things that side track me.
Kids–they are off school and surprisingly enough want and actually need by attention now and then. Who’d a thunk?
The house–it wants cleaned and the fridge restocked occasionally–well, very occasionally because the teenager empties it as fast as I fill it.
The cats–they too demand food, water, clean litter and affection. But unlike the kids who just complain if I ignore them, the cats will sit on my keyboard will I give them what they want. Who’s the smart breed here?
The husband–requires food, attention and affection–his has to be scheduled for when the kids are asleep or gone and I’m awake–no small challenge!
The EDJ–which is really only weekends but a couple of wicked shifts in the ED is kicking my old butt anymore and it takes me day to recuperate my strength and mind. Seriously, that place drains me to the core.
Then the usual things–emails-personal and business, phone calls–personal (not so many, I have very few friends who can compete with my wacky writing/promotions/publishing schedule so they don’t call any more for fear of waking me from a 2 hour night) and business–I spent 2 hours with HereTV! marketing this week. the result–We agreed to call again next week. Loop chats–rare anymore, so time limited!, website updates, marketing plans, phone tag and a dozen other things that drag my attention away. I was surfing the net doing research, came across a gorgeous art website and lost two hours just –okay, I admit it–ogling.
So maybe some of the distractions are worth it. *smiles*
