June.

My favorite month. Always has been. No doubt the main reason is because my birthday’s this month. I’ve got the whole childhood memories of parties and presents thing going. June was also the month that I usually got out of school so it got high marks for that. It’s also the start of summer, another cool thing from the kid days, heralding days of not doing much.

Well, ok, my birthday’s not such a big deal anymore now that I’m 2 yrs shy of 40. I don’t really do parties and I pretty much tell people not to bother with presents. I don’t do school anymore and it’s not like the EDJs ever got out for summer. Heck, toward the end of high school, summer became a time of work when I started with the summer jobs, so the days of not doing much were already a thing of the past.

But June is still my favorite month. Always seems to be a month of clarity somehow, of newness. Brightness. While everyone else complains of June gloom then June heat, I kind of like it. It’s a month of extremes, a month you think you know but it’s never quite like what you remember.

My June this year has been… different. Had my first surgery ever (gall bladder out). It was a drama with insurance and such, but it all turned out ok in the end. I feel much better, after all. This is my second full month of working part time at the EDJ. That’s exciting. Still getting used to the schedule, but it’s nice to only work 3 days a week in a cubicle. Our house is still in flux unfortunately, the renovations crawling along, but I’m resigned to that. Having a bit of an issue with the current WIP (Dark Elves 5 ebook) but I’m hoping that I’ve wrestled that into a semblance of submission at least.

All in all, I’m doing good, I think. Sorry for the absence of the last two weeks from FWF. Too much going on for me to figure out what to write. But I think I’m back on track.

BTW, stay tuned starting next week. The ladies here at FWF and I have decided to do a week of Fiction with Fiction fireworks!

Gallbladders are just for show ;) We’re better off without them.

I hope the rest of June treats you well.
