I’ve rotating between writing my sci-fi story GENETIC SNARE, sequel to DETAILS OF THE HUNT, and the crime adventure MEXICAN HEAT. Weird, huh? I’m trying to get both novels done at the same time! I’ve been working on them off and on for too long, setting them aside for other projects as they come up, or hitting stumbling block to my muse, but now it’s time to get down and dirty with them. AND GET THEM WRITTEN!
GENETIC SNARE is all about Aidan and Talos again because, of course, I love them and can’t let them linger in limbo for too long. MEXICAN HEAT will flesh out the characters readers may have gotten a taste of in my short story SOUTH OF THE BORDER, Antonio and Gabriel. Sexy, sultry and smart-mouthed!

Love a series. So the second is a stand alone of secondary characters introduced previously (like Nalini Singh?) and the first is a single couple we are revisiting? (Like…uh…Rosemary Rogers (that shows my age if nothing else)). Damn Laura, I think I need to read your back list. I’ve only read the 3. Dang.
Busy busy busy.

Yes, Series are great. I love getting to know the characters on a deeper level and seeing what has happened since the previous story ended. YEAH! on finishing these two books. I just loved Aidan and Talos, can’t wait to see what happens with them.

Genetic Snare is the second in a seven book series featuring Talos, hunky alien bounty hunter and Aidan the displaced 18th century pirate and thief from Details of the Hunt, an EPPIE finalist in 2007. They’re a fun couple, I think anyway.
Mexican Heat is the back story and full novel I plucked a short story from titles South of the Border. They aren’t secondary characters but the main characters that readers get to know how they came into being, fell in love and how Gabriel became blind. Mexican Heat started out as a single story but it’s grown and morphed into something more than it started out as. It’s also at least a three book series as of now. And it’s turned into the most exciting project I’ve done to date, for a list of reasons.

Good, because Josh Lanyon and I are collaborating on this one. That’s right, we’re writing a single novel, actually three novels, together. MEXICAN HEAT. One new voice, we hope. It’s a crime romance? Romantic Crime? Something like that. Maybe we start a new genre!
