Or “The Romance of Alternative Lifestyles”.

That’s the topic of discussion I submitted to RWA last year which they recently informed me has been accepted. Yeah! I’m thrilled and very excited about it to say the very least. It will be one of the first that is devoted to the ever popular genre of MM romance at RWA. I give them a big kudos for hosting it. And Suzanne Brockmann tells me she is MCing the Rita’s. Sweet! The genre is making a showing this year in several ways and I’m very pleased.

I’m pulling together my panel members –Cassie Stevens, Lyndi Lamont, M.L. Rhodes and possibly one more along with myself– and fleshing out a more complete discourse by trying to include important factors about the genre, why we write it, the barriers to writing it and how we have overcome those obstacles with the help of readers. It should be an exciting panel. I would have like to tap a few other authors as well, but to be on an RWA panel you have to be a member of RWA and until recently few M/M authors have seen the value of joining. I’m hoping that will change soon. Every small step is one pace closer to the goal.

M/M authors are popular, accomplished, multi-published writers with a lot to offer both romance readers and RWA. And we’re here to stay.
