Now I’m a die-hard Depp fan, I am. He is the template for a number of my characters physical appearances. His strength, vulnerability and fine, but masculine features inspire me. I adore him. He is my inspiration for Aidan in THE DETAILS OF THE HUNT, and my blind Gabriel in MEXICAN HEAT. I own all his movies, everyone including ones he made a few minutes appearance in. I think he’s extremely unique and greatly talented. I’ll watch anything with him in it, which explains when my husband asked what I wanted to do to celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary (during the daylight hours with the kids awake) I asked him to take me to see Johnny’s latest film Sweeney Todd. After this many years we only do big things to celebrate anniversaries for each decade that goes by. Besides, I own more jewelry (his standard gift) than any one woman should. He sighed, but being the loving, dear man he is, he said sure.

I have to admit Sweeney Todd turned out to be my first slasher musical, but it was great. Who knew Depp could sing the way he can? I mean, I knew he played in a band, but his voice is rich and mellow and crystal clear. It was a very pleasant surprise. I would love to hear him sing again. And another benefit of seeing this movie–I’ve been inspired to create a new character for my coming rock band vampire novel MONSTER. Guess who the character will look similar to? lol.
