I writing a new vampire story for an anthology with J.J. Massa and Angela Fiddler titled BLOOD CLAIM that will be out with MLR Press. It’s main theme is vampires who chose human lovers to reclaim or to hold onto a thread of their humanity. My main vamp is a bit of a harsh man. Ancient, hardened, and brutal, honed that way by his human life as a successful warrior during primitive times way before he became a vampire. My guy goes to collect the fruits of a bet he won and finds himself attracted to gentle, caring, but courageous and strong personality of his prey. Short story even shorter, he claims his winnings but gets more than he expected and reclaims some of his lost soul along the way.

Anyway, my question is, I know why I adore writing these dark, complex characters, but why do you like to read them?

I’ve always liked vampires. I think a big part of the attraction for me is the danger. Vampires are predators and their is something really sexy about a creature who can hurt but chooses not to.

Vampires don’t think the same as we do. They are ammoral and very sexy. It’s as if once they change from human to vampire they lose all inhibitions and become a law unto themselves. No right, or wrong, only what they determine they need at the moment. Its just damn sexy to pick man or woman, simply because you find either one sexual. and they usually have a little bdsm mixed in with the pleasure sexually. They also seem to want to be worshipped. it is the element of surprise and fear mixed with pure sexuality that turns most readers on. :)
