I missed my post last week (sorry!), so I am making up for it this week by becoming a Raving Radiohead Fangirl, then begging for help.
Y’all might want to back up a little…

OMFG, RADIOHEAD IS FINALLY FINALLY RELEASING THEIR 7TH ALBUM!!! I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOREVER!!!!!!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
**runs in circles**

[/Crazed Fangirl moment]

The thing is, right now the album is only available through their official website, as they are not currently signed to a label. (those rebels! I freakin’ LOVE them, for real!) The discbox — which I am totally horny for — works out to about $82 once you convert from pounds to dollars. This includes two CDs, a download which is available tomorrow, an LP (or 2? I don’t remember…), and a hardback book of lyric sheets, photos and original artwork by (I assume) Thom Yorke and Stanley Donwood. Oh and the price includes shipping from the UK as well, which is nothing to sneeze at. I want this discbox, I do I do, but the MONEY, y’all! My man-thing would have kittens. I could buy the first disc as a download — they have it set up where you pick how much you pay for it… no, seriously — but then I’d miss out on all the other nifty stuff.

So you see my dilemma. Spend a ridiculous amount of money on the option I truly want, and live with the hubby snarking about it for the rest of my natural life (once he stops actually being angry, that is), or spend a much smaller amount for 10 brand-new Radiohead songs which I DO want with a mad desperate passion, but end up pining for all the other stuff that’s in the discbox.
WHAT DO I DO??? Help me!

Tell hubby to buy it for you as an early Christmas, birthday, anniversary, Hanukkah, Arbor Day, pick your holiday present. That way you get it, and he gets a free pass on a future holiday gift. :)

    You’re a clever, clever woman, Sasha *g*

I brought it up, and at first he was NOT happy about how much it costs, but then he said I should get it because it will make me happy. My sweetie :D

See, there comes a time when the menfolk see that there are certain necessarys in life. ‘course, I guess there come times when we need to see the necessarys in theirs.

As for the whole Radiohead thing, the SO was telling me about that the other day. That’s so frickin’ cool I can’t hardly stand it! I hear that they ask a minimum of like 45 cents for the album because they figured out that’s about what they made themselves on their previous albums. However, most of their fans are giving them an average of $5 for this one, so they’re making scads more than they normally would. This model would only work for the popular bands at the moment, but it gives hope for a different model for buying music in the future. At least, so says the SO, my font of knowledge on all that is music. :)

LOL Well I have been totally indulgent of the hubby’s action figure habit for years, so he owes me *g*

Yeah, Radiohead have been screwed over by their label in the past, which is probably why they declined to re-sign with them. It is AWESOME that they’re selling their album themselves! If I were going to get the 10-song download, I’d pay about $5, since that would be pretty much comparable to getting it song by song on iTunes (which you can’t do, BTW; Radiohead are holdouts there, and I’m not sure how I feel about that). BUT, being the Mega-Sooper-Dooper Rabid Fan I am, I am spending the $$$ for the discbox. I need me some original Tchocky/Donwood art!! Hell yeah :D

I thought that I had left my fangirl years when I left the teen years, but recently I’ve confirmed that something of that compulsive being remains, so I would probably buy the hole thing!
    BTW Sweet hubby *grins*

Oh he really is a doll-baby, I mean he can be a pain at times, but then again so can I so it all works out *g*

I have been listening to the new songs today. I am speechless with wonder, y’all. For real. You’d think a band couldn’t still surprise you after fourteen years, but damn, they DO.
Current favorite: House Of Cards, which I fell in love with when they played it live at Bonnaroo in ‘06. Gorgeous, beautiful, stunning song.
