My revising average has grown to about two chapters every day. Some chapters don’t need much work; others need something rewritten.

It’s a fun, though challenging, process. Sometimes I’ll come upon a moment that, while good, could be cut without taking anything away from the rest of the story. I’ll sigh, paste it into my “keep just in case” folder, and move on.

Other times I’ll come upon a really clever description or witty dialogue, but it’s lost within a chunk of text. I’ll hit enter a couple times, eliminate a “though,” and tada! Good scene made brilliant.

Am I anywhere near the finish line? Well . . . no. I’ve got several hundred more pages to go through.

Has the extra attention to Half Lives been worth it? Oh yes. Whenever I post chapters to the crit group, I get responses like these:

You are killing me woman! I’m dying to finish reading this story!!

Oh man! I even knew he served the Darkness and you duped me!

’tis a good story. very much worth the effort. So creepy and sensual. those two shouldn’t go together but they do in this!
