I’m writing a story for LooseId’s Collector series right now. It’s the last in the first series, the one that ties up the loose ends and resolves the hanging issues of the mysterious man himself. It’s also M/M romance, of course, and involves adventures to the jungles of India and our heroes face perils outside the normal realm of jungle dangers.
Big problem is I’m running from a deadline that’s chasing me like a pack of hungry jackals. My usual time-crunch problem is I linger too much on the sex and that steals my time. So this time around I’m going do it differently. I’m going to write the whole adventure part of the novel out, leave big gapping holes where the sex scenes belong and come back and flesh out the good parts last when I can spend lots of time on them and not worry I won’t get the whole story done on time. That may even mean I have to read the whole thing a second time. That will be a departure for my writing routine! I don’t angst over anything in my writing. It is what it is. I learned in grade school to trust my first instinct and not go back and change the answers. I’ve adhered to that philosophy since then and I don’t see a reason to change it now. No matter how overworked my editor is!

I need to take a lesson from you, Laura, and stop fixing what’s not *that* broken. I am the eternal tweaker — of event chronology, of description, of single sentences for heaven’s sake! Needless to say, my obsession with tweaking makes me the slowest writer on the face of the earth. And the worst part is that quite often when I look back at earlier drafts, the *changed* lines etc. are straight from the earliest versions. It would almost be funny if it wasn’t so exasperating. *g*
I’ll be interested to hear how leaving the sex for last works out for you. Let us know, will you?
Wow, I didn’t realize you’re writing the last book of the collector. Can’t wait to read it. I love that series.

I can’t say I’ve ever been dissapointed about how you’ve written the sex–I mean, how your books have come out. I hope this method works for you :)
