Continuing in the same vein as last week’s post (i.e., completely Shameless Thievery), I am updating y’all on the progress of my latest WIP, Untamed Heart. I knew this was going to be angsty. But DAYUM, it’s turning into the Grand High Poo-Bah of angst-fests.
The prologue sets up the whole business. My POV character, Leon Fisher, lost his lover in a most horrible way. Leon, being the Not Very Nice Guy he is, attempts restitution in the only way he knows how. Angst ensues. Chapter One reveals Leon’s slow breakdown and slide into depression, and sets up the trip to Alaska, where the bulk of the book takes place. More angst ensues. Chapter Two has Leon arriving at his destination, and truly feeling for the first time all that he’s lost. Yes, a whole boatload of angst does indeed ensue.
Like I said, I knew this was gonna be kind of a heartbreaker, but it’s turning out even more wrenching than I expected it to be. Leon is not my typical “nice guy” hero. He’s kind of a bastard, but he does have a heart and he is in SO much pain you can’t help but sympathize. I didn’t expect him to be quite as surly as he is, and I REALLY didn’t expect him to have been through as much as he has. He’s an interesting guy, and I look forward to getting to know him better, and seeing him change into the good person he really is inside.
Funny how writing can surprise you that way. I’ll be typing along, and something comes out that makes me go “WHOA, where did THAT come from??” And I haven’t even introduced the REALLY f***-ed up character in this book yet! LOL
Yes, they will have a happy ending. I promise :D

Yes, I’ve read these first chapters (crits forthcoming, I promise) and I’m savoring the angsty goodness.
No, Leon isn’t a nice guy but Ally has drawn him with such skill that he’s already won my sympathy.
Now, write faster!

Thank you Kimber! Leon really is a guy you can feel for, he just doesn’t show it on the outside. Which is why this book’s in his point of view *g*
Jet, honey, you KNOW you can’t cuddle Leon! He bites, and not in a fun way O_O
Once I introduce Grim, you can cuddle him. He NEEDS it. Badly.

I like Leon. He’s angsty because he loves.
Now write faster. I want to see what he does next :)
