Are you more of a talker or a listener?

Let’s talk live for a moment. When you’re with a group of people, are you one of the ones speaking? Or are you sitting/standing there, listening to what the speaker has to say. As they’re talking, are you trying to get a word in edgewise?

Or online. When there’s a thread going on, do you more than often comment, even if it’s “amen” or “thank you”?

I’m sure you’ve all got that friend who usually manages to be the center of attention. When they speak, people listen. When they’re not around, the conversation often stagnates. Or the person who always manages to keep everyone laughing.

Neither is good or bad, of course. There are those who talk WAY too much and there are those who should flippin’ speak up more, as well as plenty of people in between.

Me, I’m mostly a listener. Now, there are those of my friends who’d disagree with me. But they’re wrong. If they watched carefully, even though I can be loud, I usually am not. Usually I’m content to let other talk. I suppose this comes with being an actress long ago, a writer now and having been a character creator most of my life. I’m fascinated by the dynamic between people, who talks and what they’re saying. And what they’re not saying. And if the people around them are really listening.

So that’s my pondering for this Saturday morning. You talkers speak up and comment and you listeners sit there and smile and acknowledge to yourself that you’re listening :)

I’m a talker. I like to think I’m also a good listner, but I’ve always had issues keeping quiet. (Got a D- in Conduct in the 4th grade, just for talking, and straight A’s on everything else, ok?) I like to be gabbing and joking and having fun. On-line…I don’t always feel the need to post comments. But, I do like to get posts back from comments. Feedback is always nice.

I tend to be more of a listener. Around my family I become more of a talker, but in social situations i would rather take it all in and relax. i don’t feel the need to be the center of that situation. If you ask my opnion, i will give it though. on line I tend to lurk. Sometimes i comment, it depends on how I feel that day.

Um, does anyone have any doubt about which catagory I fall into? :)

I’m definitely more of a listener. I’m basically pretty shy. No, really, I am.

I’m more of a listener. Both because I’m a bit shy with new people and because when nervous, words fail me. Then I hear someone else or read anothers comment and think, that is how I wanted to say it! Maybe because of this I enjoy reading books where the writer “controls” his/her senteces, bulding their characters, showing their humor, twisted mind, shyness, …
And of course, one of my teenage habits was writing whatever was on my mind, so I tend to write long comments *grin*
