Check it out. New look and colors. I decided to go easy on the eyes this time rather than doing my normal, um, “colorful” theme.

Now a bit about websites.
I’ve always done my own. Back to the very first days. Let’s see… 1998? I taught myself HTML with some help of whatever WYSIWYG program Adobe was writing back then (I forget the name). My original gallery had a page for every picture and even had *gasp* frames! By today’s standards, it was terribly primitive, but back then it was pretty cool.
Shortly thereafter, I had to give myself a crash course in running a web store because the SO and I tried out own business. It all eventually crashed–and I’m still paying it off–but I did learn a lot about credit card charging, link throughs and Javascript.
Then I got tired of having a page for every image. By that time, php had become viable so I took the plunge and installed Coppermine. Nice program, actually. I had to teach myself a lot and tweak it a lot, but now that it’s up and running, it’s pretty easy to maintain. A lot easer than editing a thumbnail page and an image page for each new image, not to mention the pages before and after it. Blech!
So now, I’ve joined the wonderful world of WordPress. My website, I finally admitted, had to be somewhat professional. No, it had to be professional. No more bright colors that would drive people away. No more flashy stuff that would amuse some and annoy others. I had to do something that would showcase me without detracting the eye. I think I’ve done that with this latest incarnation. I’m rather proud of it actually. I don’t claim to know all there is to know about WordPress–not even close!–but I managed to find a nice base theme and tweak it to my own satisfaction. I doubt I’m finished tweaking it yet, but it’ll do for now.
Hmmm. Maybe I’ll pay someone to do the next one *wink*

I like the new site!
I’m too lazy to write code all day only to come home and write other code - I hired the lovely Frauke of CrocoDesigns to do it for me. She ROCKS.
