So I was answering questions for an interview yesterday via email (more on that when I know the date the interview is being released :D). And I found myself getting waaaay philosophical about some of it. Even straightforward questions, such as the one asking about what book I’d love to write but haven’t summoned the nerve to write yet, inspired insanely complex answers. (BTW, after about half a page of rambling, I changed my answer on that one to something halfway coherent and more accurate LOL) As tends to happen to me a LOT, I started pondering the psychology of human relationships, how that affects what I write, and how that affects what I like to read.

Long story short, people fascinate me. The way we think, the way our reactions can be so unpredictable and seemingly contradictory, yet make perfect sense within our own heads. The way our minds tend to mold our past (and, too often, our present) into the shape that, for whatever reason, we need it to be. The book I’m about to start writing, Untamed Heart, will delve pretty deeply into that dynamic between two extremely f***ed-up characters, so it’s been on my mind lately anyway. The interview just seemed to bring it to the fore.

As far as I can tell, I write what I write and read what I read because I love to see how a person’s inner psychology affects their life and the lives of those around them, particularly those with whom they have intimate relationships. In real life, people don’t always overcome their pasts, their circumstances, or their own choices. In fiction, there’s a world of possibility. There’s always hope for a happy ending, and the optimist in me (also the hopeless romantic) loves that.

I could probably go on all day, maybe ramble on about quantum physics and parallel realities and the possibilities there, but I’ll spare you *g* Share your own deep thoughts!
